Embark on the Exchange Students’ Cultural Tour to Yilan County: Discover, Create, Experience!
On August 27th, 2025, the Office of International Programs invites all exchange students to join a one-day tour to Yilan County, blending tradition, creativity, and fun.
Registration is open until August 20th, 2025, so be sure to secure your spot early to avoid disappointment.
Our first stop will be the National Center for Traditional Arts, a vibrant hub that brings Taiwan’s folk arts to life. Take part in a hands-on DIY workshop where you will paint your own Taiwanese glove puppet, learn about the different character roles, and even try your hand at basic puppet manipulation—make your puppet walk, run, and play rock-paper-scissors! This interactive session offers a fun and immersive way to connect with Taiwan’s performing arts heritage.
After unleashing your creativity with puppet painting and performance, slow down and soak in the beauty of your surroundings with a peaceful boat ride along the Dongshan River. Within the grounds of the National Center for Traditional Arts, this ride is designed to evoke the feeling of classical Chinese landscape paintings. As you drift past elegant bridges, lush scenery, and traditional architecture, you will find yourself immersed in a scene that feels straight out of an ink scroll. It is a poetic experience that brings Taiwan’s natural beauty and artistic spirit to life.
End the day at Luodong Night Market, one of Taiwan’s largest and most popular. Indulge in a wide variety of traditional Taiwanese snacks, from scallion pancakes to bubble tea, and explore stalls selling everything from fashion and accessories to handcrafted souvenirs.
The night market’s lively atmosphere is the perfect way to experience Taiwanese culture at its most vibrant.
