After entirely 14 hours of flight, I finally arrived at Paris Charles‐de‐Gaulle Airport. It
was almost 10 PM after I checked out everything from customs. Because of the plan
of waiting for my friend to get a ride to the destination city, I had to wait until 7 AM
in the airport alone. This airport seems big but quite empty and a bit scary after I’ve
been hearing warnings from my Europeans that Paris is a dangerous city. Due to
safety concern, I decided not to sleep and keep my eyes carefully on my belongings. I
found myself a chair close to a corner and there has already been several people
sleeping on the ground. Fortunately, before I saw my friend, there was only one guy
talking to me nicely and friendly, and most importantly in English.
After my friend, Tim, arrived, we then set out on our first journey to our common
destination, Poitiers. On the way, Tim’s friend stopped at La Tour Eiffel and Les
Champs‐Elysees to let us take a quick look at the most famous sites of the city. It was
still in the morning and it was cold outside, I could only feel the freezing morning
breeze flowing through me. Here we took the first picture in France. After that , it
was a straight 5‐hour ride to Poitiers.
Here I would like to talk about a restaurant we stopped by for lunch in the middle
way. The first experience of French food, I have to admit, is the worst. However, I still
wouldn’t say French food is really bad since France is one of the countries that have
the most delicious food in the world. I ordered Steak‐Hachee. It’s basically a steak
with some fries. Tim had amdouille which is a stuffed French sausage. I think I am
more a conservative person in terms of the food taste since I didn’t wanna ruin my
mood at the first day. However, the outcome proved that I made a wrong decision.
The steak was way too tough to bite and I felt like my jaw was having a cramp. Here is
a little suggestion: Just order whatever you feel like since it’s all decided by the
fate…if you’re doomed to eat shit, you can’t escape!
