The University of Queensland was founded in 1909. It is one of the oldest and largest universities in Australia and is a member of the Australian Group of Eight and Un-iversitas 21. The university was ranked 4th domestically and 41st internationally in the Times Higher Education-QS World University Rankings of 2009. The school’s out-standing record was sustained over three periods of evaluation of teaching quality conducted by the government of the Commonwealth of Australia while gaining strong support for research work from high-performance industries. The university has been accredited by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and has a fine reputation nationally, as well as internationally, for its quality teaching and excellent research. Being one of Australia's largest universities, the school has been awarded the top 200 universities of best reputation worldwide by the Time Magazine (London edition). The curriculum focuses on “practical application in the workplace”, in which research and education are oriented to meet the job market’s needs. Its students come from all over the world, and in addition, the majority of its teaching staff also have either worked abroad or studied overseas. To better serve the foreign students, the students may first enroll for classes at its language center, which offers specialized preparation courses in English.
